49th Baroque Evenings of Varaždin

The Varaždin Baroque Evening Festival is the most significant music and stage event in central Croatia, founded in 1971, and today it is one of the most prominent festivals of its kind in the world as a specialized early music festival. The festival is under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia, and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia granted it national significance 20 years ago. For several years now, the festival has a partner country each year. The partner countries so far have been Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Israel, Austria, the Russian Federation, Italy, France, Spain Hungary and Japan, and this year it will be Sweden.

30 concerts in 12 festival days, an exceptionally rich accompanying program called Total baroq, concerts in Varaždin, Trakošćan, Novi Marof, and in 11 cities and towns, not only in the Croatian north, but also in Slovenian Ptuj. The shortest is a summary of the 49th Baroque Evenings of Varaždin, whose partner country is the Kingdom of Sweden. The organizers have prepared an extremely rich accompanying program, and the Festival will end on October 1st with the distribution of festival awards and the traditional concert of award-winning students from the Varaždin School of Music.
